Sydney to the Fly
A short 1 hour drive South of Sydney from the Royal National Park, is the Grand Pacific Drive. Hugging the coastline this rollercoaster journey takes you through the rainforest, dipping into coastal seaside towns like Thirroul and Austinmer down to the Shoalhaven.
Discover why so many people “Love the Gong”. Places to visit include Wollongong Harbour, Islands Five Brewery, and Nan Tein Temple. Continuing South along the Hwy to Albion Park, turn right up Illawarra Highway or as the locals call it 'Macquarie Pass', turning left onto Jamberoo Mountain Road to the Illawarra Fly – an awe inspiring adventure in the treetops with spectacular views over the escarpment.
Continue back down Jamberoo Mountain Rd to Kiama to see the blowhole and back to Sydney popping into the Gateway centre and Jumbulla Aboriginal Discovery Centre at Bulli Tops . Alternatively take the expressway to Bowral and through the villages of the Southern Highlands onto the Hume Highway and M5.
From the Coast to the Highlands
Head up the escarpment to the Southern Highlands and start your journey in Bowral at the new International Cricket Hall of Fame (formally The Bradman Museum) open 7 days 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Travelling 5 minutes west of Bowral along Centennial Rd, visit the picturesque Centennial Vineyards tasting some of the best cool climate wines in the region then follow the road to the historic village of Berrima for shopping, galleries and antiques.
Head back along Berrima Rd towards Moss Vale and along the Illawarra Highway towards Robertson.
If time permits adventure into the village of Burrawang one of the prettiest villages in the Highlands.
Follow the Illawarra Hwy to the famous Robertson Pie shop and then right down Jamberoo Mountain Road to Illawarra Fly for an adventure through the tree tops and lunch and refreshments our Café 106. Complete your journey down Jamberoo Mountain road back to the coast
Southern Highlands to the Fly
Take the Nowra Road to Fitzroy Falls a spectacular waterfall and native bushland. Continue down the rainforest clad mountain to the Kangaroo Valley, a pretty and dramatic village with rivers and creeks, pubs, cafes, canoeing and bushwalks. Over the mountain is the popular village of Berry with boutiques, cafes and one of the best bakeries in the region.
Follow the coastal road to Kiama marvelling at the beauty of some of the South Coasts best beaches where the mountains meet the sea. Experience the thrill of the Kiama blowhole then travel up the Jamberoo Mountain Road to Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventure for an awe inspiring adventure in nature.
Your journey then takes you through the village of Robertson back through the Highlands. Why not stop at the Burrawang Pub form a cleansing ale or crisp wine and enjoy the picturesque views from the Beer Garden on your journey home.
Canberra to the Coast
From the Hume Hwy take the Sutton Forest exit into the village of Sutton Forest and visit one of the best rated gardens in the world Red Cow Farm. Open spring through autumn 10:00am to 4:00pm every day except Christmas Day.
Follow the Illawarra Highway to Robertson passing green pastures and picturesque countryside, along your journey you will see signs for Exeter Village, Mount Ashby Winery, or Burrawang Village if you have time go and investigate these historical places of interest – they are well worth it!
Head through Robertson towards the Robertson Pie shop and turn right down Jamberoo Mountain Rd to Illawarra Fly for your treetop adventure with stunning views over the escarpment and refreshments Café 106. Continue down the mountain to Kiama and the blowhole and stay overnight or head back to Canberra.
